The State of Vermont is sending mailed ballots to ALL active registered voters for the November 3rd General Election. You will receive your ballot by October 1st.
What do I do if I don’t receive my ballot by October 1st?
If you do not receive your ballot please contact the town office (802-878-4587 or townclerk@westfordvt.us). Replacement ballots are available at any time leading up to the election. You will sign an affidavit voiding your previously mailed ballot and a replacement will be provided to you. You can also sign an affidavit at the polls on election day and be provided a ballot at the polls (November 3rd, 7am-7pm). Please note you cannot ask for a replacement ballot if your ballot has already been returned to the clerk. Additionally, while you can only physically pick up your own ballot at the town office, you may return the sealed ballot envelopes of household member’s ballots.
I don’t feel secure putting my voted ballot back in the mail. What are my options?
Luckily there are many options for returning your ballot without putting it in the mail. You may return ballots physically at the town office either in the secure drop box to the left of the town office front door (big white box NOT the taped shut old mail slot) or you may come into the office during open hours (Mon-Thurs 8:30am-4:30 pm, Fri 8:30am-1pm) and either put it in the drop box near the front counter OR hand it directly to the town clerk. You can also drop your ballot off at the polls on election day.
I don’t want to vote absentee; I want to put my ballot through the tabulator; can I do that?
Yes! When returning ballots at the polls you have several options. You can bring your absentee ballot that is voted on and hand it to the town clerk to process or you can go through the check-in line and put your voted ballot through the tabulator yourself. You can also bring your unvoted ballot with you to the polls, check-in, and vote in a voting booth before putting your ballot through the tabulator. While we encourage you to bring your mailed ballot with you, it is not necessary. Replacement ballots will always be available to voters as long as their pre-existing ballot issued by the state can be voided (meaning it has not been returned to the town clerk’s office already).
Do you have any other election questions or concerns?
Direct them to the Town Clerk’s office (802-878-4587 or townclerk@westfordvt.us) . We will continue to address common concerns and provide information on this election on FPF and the town website, but are always happy to answer questions privately. As your town clerk, my office is committed to ensuring all registered Westford voters are able to cast their ballot.
